Joan Rivers passed away Thursday, September 4, 2014 at the age of 81.
While the world mourns the loss of yet another great comedienne, Joan knew the day would come when she would die. In her 2012 book “I Hate Everyone … Starting With Me,” Rivers wrote her daughter specific instructions on how she envisioned her funeral, or what would be better described as her last hurrah. She wrote in the book,
“When I die (and yes, Melissa, that day will come; and yes, Melissa, everything’s in your name), I want my funeral to be a huge showbiz affair with lights, cameras, action … I want craft services, I want paparazzi and I want publicists making a scene! I want it to be Hollywood all the way,” she continued. “I don’t want some rabbi rambling on; I want Meryl Streep crying, in five different accents. I don’t want a eulogy; I want Bobby Vinton to pick up my head and sing ‘Mr. Lonely.’”
Of course, being the host of Fashion Police, she requested a Valentino Gown and a Harry Winston toe tag and “to look gorgeous, better dead than I do alive.”
While Joan Rivers was known for slamming just about everyone in Hollywood, she will be missed!
